Recorded LIVE at Bridland, on October 30, 2008, in New York City.
The Italian pianist returns to surprise us once again with his new album, mixing his playing cards and veering abruptly into new and unexplored territories, this time venturing into the limitless and fascinating land of South America, interpreting Latin music in his own creative way. For this important occasion he chooses New York’s BIRDLAND as the setting for his new creation; where the New York public had the privilege to hear this quintet debuting, with the original compositions studied and composed for this exceptional meeting in the Big Apple. Wonderfully conquering the listener, Pieranunzi alternates fast themes with touching ballads, at which he is an absolute master. If you then consider the soloists of extreme merit who took part in the project, any doubt is removed: bassist John Patitucci, solidly inspired and perfectly at ease supporting the melodic vein of his leader; Antonio Sanchez, a drummer who needs no introduction: with unparalleled and unbelievable technique, supported by a phrasing and poetry on cymbals and drums, which make him one of the greatest specialists around; no less are the frontline players who Pieranunzi wanted at his side-- trumpeter and Grammy nominee Diego Urcola and the splendid saxophone of Yosvany Terry.
