Having spent most of his young life in the study and practice of classical music, Spanish guitarist Diego Barber decided to challenge himself, widening his musical scope into the areas of jazz and improvised music. Upon moving to New York, Barber came across the singular music of Craig Taborn and became fascinated with the pianist’s incredible abilities and style. This inspired Barber to write four pieces for himself on guitar and Taborn on piano; the outcome of their pairing is the tremendous duo recording Tales, which bends the conceptions of classical, jazz and contemporary music.
