Master pianist Abdullah Ibrahim is one of South Africa’s most celebrated musicians. He has recorded in a multitude of settings, from solo and small ensembles to leading big bands and orchestras. Ibrahim’s latest recording Mukashi (the title translates to “once upon a time” in Japanese) features the 79 year old legend in various ensemble amalgamations with woodwind specialist Cleave Guyton and cellists Eugen Bazijan and Scott Roller for a spare but captivating collection of original material.
