The saxophone quartet is the most celebrated ensemble for saxophonists studying classical music. // Having the chance to perform in hundreds of concerts and many music competitions during his studies, Samuel Blais had the idea to put a group together with former teacher David Liebman, as well as two major voices of the instrument in David Binney and Donny McCaslin. // The group performed together for the rst time in October 2012 and it was a great opportunity for each to write some new music speci cally for this ensemble. After a week long tour in Canada, they decided to record these brand new tunes at Red Rock Recording Studio in May 2015. // The result speaks for itself: adventurous music, great interplay, and contrasting compositions by all. Four visions becoming one, on a thrilling new approach to the classic saxophone quartet formation.
