Ellen is a former Broadway performer and Green Up Time is her first CD. On this recording, Ellen combines her two passions, plants and music, for a botanical look at Broadway. Ellen is a Harvard graduate and received her certificates in horticulture and ethnobotany from the New York Botanical Garden. She is a garden writer and photographer, a garden designer, and coordinator of the gardening program in continuing ed at the NYBG. Ellen’s first book, Orchid Growing for Wimps, was published in May of 2002 by Sterling Publications. Her next, Tempting Tropicals: 175 Irresistible Indoor Plants will be published by Timber Press in September 2005.
Plantiques is a pet project of Ellen's. The label is dedicated exclusively to recording songs about plants. Ellen has an extensive archive of botanical music, and plans to continue this series of horticultural harmonies.
