Kay Lyra

Kay Lyra is bringing her Brazilian sounds to New York City where she is capturing audiences with her precise, pure voice, and impeccable phrasing. Brazilian music critic Nelson Motta labeled her “The daughter of bossa with a crystal voice" in an inevitable reference to her musician/composer father, Bossa Nova veteran/founder Carlos Lyra.

Kay has performed on stage with Bossa Nova icons Roberto Menescal, Durval Ferreira, Mauricio Einhorn, Wanda Sá, Bebeto Castilho (Tamba Trio) Sergio Ricardo, Leila Pinheiro, João Donato, and musicians Léo Gandelman, Márcio Montarroyos, Marcos Suzano, Chiquito Braga, Nivaldo Ornelas, Jean Pierre Zannella, Mauricio Maestro (Boca Livre), Jessé Sadock, among others. She has recorded with Naná Vasconscelos, Pery Ribeiro, Gilson Peranzzetta, Joyce and Eric Rigler.

Kay also participated in the film/documentary "Coisa Mais Linda" from Paulo Thiago, about the history of Bossa Nova, filmed in Rio de Janeiro, featuring all the great names of that movement including João Donato, Johnny Alf, Leny Andrade, Roberto Menescal, Alaíde Costa, Carlos Lyra, Billy Blanco, Sergio Ricardo.
